Two of us are Putting through our first BoE with LIP form to Agl.

We both have received a standard unsigned letter that they don’t recognise our claim- So they must have had a few before us.

We’ve both had overdue and disconnect notices and replied with a long letter including relevant acts and that we don’t accept threats and harassment.

we have also said we don’t consent to email and digital communication for legal matters.

our registered letters take a very long time and appear to be redirected to Melbourne.

What experience have others had with this company?

I am also dealing with AGL and I haven't paid an electricity bill since the beginning of the year. They tried to deny my first BOE, but when I challenged them to provide proof that they are exempt from the law they shut up and accepted my BOE for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd quarters. Remember you are dealing with low level bureaucrats who don't know the law, so if they try to deny your BOE, write back asking them to prove they are exempt, and tell them to pass your BOE up the chain to top level management who do know the law.

Thank you, it’s so important to know we’re not alone with these different companies and that there is precedent.

Hi linda,

Just wanted to see if the bill that you got from the AGL had the barcode at the top (like outlined in the video)
cause mine does not.

cheers!

@johnwick the barcode is irrelevant. You don't have to worry about it. Nor do you have to try and do their job for them. It's their responsibility to know how to process BoE's.

I have just had continuous bills from AGL and then reminder notices they've not been paid and then eventually they disconnected our power.  My husband had to pay the outstanding amount in order to get power reconnected however he did this in a payment plan over the phone without giving our bank details and without making a payment...definitely didn't make sense.  We never received any letters advising they did not accept our claims, just the bills and then disconnection notices that they followed through with.  We did not pursue trespass, we arranged a payment plan to get power as it was in the height of summer and we could not go without refrigeration.  Having an argument with some numpty over the phone was not worth the hassle.  They also did not recognise electricity is a requirement to sustain life unless someone in the house was on life support.  Next quarter will be another thing.  We'll have another go and pursue further.  BTW we also went outside to the meter box after the guy left disconnecting it and we simply flipped the switch and it all came back on.  So, if you do get disconnected and they baffle you with ensuring the switch in the meter box is in the off position before they re-connect, kinda thinking that it's a bit of BS too.  The guy didn't need to come back and turn it on, we did it ourselves.
