Eleanor Rigby
Mike has taken this iconic Beatles song and given it a depth and feeling that evokes the eerie feeling John and Paul were originally seeking to create.
The church in the picture is Uphill Church at Weston-Super-Mare, Great Britain where Mike’s grandma is buried. Her grave is just to the left of the central tower of the church.

Hurt
Originally written and performed by the 9 Inch Nails, and then covered by Johnny Cash. Mike has taken this dark song about a junkie suffering withdrawal and added a violin that sets the somber mood the song demands.

One Shot of Whiskey
Sitting on an overnight bus in the dark hills of Sumatra traveling from Panang to Lake Toba I was thinking about my lonely existence at the time and wrote this song. It helped that I had been drinking locally distilled Sumatran rum with a bunch of Batak tribesmen at the back of the bus, singing old Sinatra songs. It set the mood for my thoughts after they all passed out and this song is the result.

Rain
Mike has always loved the bautiful song by Jose Feliciano. To record this song, Mike used a pre-recorded guitar (with permission of the performer) and added his own touches with the violin and keybord.

Vanessa
I met Vanessa one day in 2008 while walking through a department store. I had just broken off with my girlfriend a week before, and I was enjoying a life of freedom. But, as I walked past Vanessa selling perfumes I was struck by her smile. I walked back to talk to her, and three months later we got married. We are still married today. You just never know what Life has in store for you, do you?
